BROOME'S VISION

Mayor Broome’s Vision for East Baton Rouge Parish:

This is how Mayor Broome plans to continue growing East Baton Rouge Parish.

Mayor Broome’s Vision for East Baton Rouge Parish: Building Prosperity Through Economic Development and Opportunity

Building on the $50 million already invested in small and minority businesses, Mayor-President Broome’s next term will focus on broadening these efforts, fostering a strong local economy by nurturing entrepreneurship, and creating more job opportunities for East Baton Rouge Parish residents.

  • Increasing Funding for Small and Minority Businesses

Expanded access to low-interest loans, technical support, and grants for small businesses, especially in disinvested areas. We’ll increase partnerships with local and state economic agencies to drive additional capital.

  • Strengthening Business Districts in Key Areas

Following successful initiatives like Amazon’s presence at Cortana, we will continue revitalizing underserved areas, providing incentives for businesses to set up in revitalized districts, ultimately bringing in jobs, creating a sustainable tax base, and fostering local growth.

  • Workforce Training and EmployBR Retooling

Refocus EmployBR on industry-relevant skills training, aligning workforce development with the demands of high-growth industries. By partnering with technical colleges and private sector entities, EmployBR can provide residents with clear pathways to skilled jobs in industries rapidly expanding locally.

Mayor Broome’s Vision for East Baton Rouge Parish: Building  A Brighter Future Through Education and Investing in Our Children

A prosperous East Baton Rouge Parish begins with a solid educational foundation for our youngest residents. Mayor-President Broome’s investment in children will extend opportunities for all families, support educational access, and build a brighter future for the next generation.

  • Expanding Early Childhood Education Through HeadStart Restart
Already providing more early childhood seats, we’ll build on this to reach even more families. By improving teacher pay, we’ll attract high-quality educators, increasing the number of children served and setting the foundation for lifelong learning and success.
  • Wraparound Programs to Support Families
Investing in aftercare, mentorship, and academic support programs, especially for working parents enrolled in training and education programs, providing parents the security they need to focus on advancing their skills.

Mayor Broome’s Vision for East Baton Rouge Parish: Building Trust Through Public Safety and Community Empowerment

East Baton Rouge Parish deserves a proactive and community-centered approach to public safety. Mayor-President Broome believes in building relationships between law enforcement and communities, with a focus on prevention and opportunity.

Strengthening Safe Hopeful Healthy Baton Rouge
Take Safe Hopeful Healthy Baton Rouge to the next level by connecting individuals at risk of falling into cycles of violence with sustainable job opportunities. We will empower communities through targeted interventions and pathways to employment that break the cycle of poverty and reduce crime rates.

21st Century Policing and Resource Investment

Maintain our commitment to 21st-century policing that emphasizes community trust and accountability. Work to attract new talent to the force, ensure officers have cutting-edge training, and utilize advanced technology to solve crimes more effectively, enhancing both police and resident accountability.

Mayor Broome’s Vision for East Baton Rouge Parish: Creating Pathways Through  Infrastructure Development

Quality infrastructure is the backbone of a resilient, thriving city-parish. Mayor-President Broome will continue to prioritize and deliver on key infrastructure projects to ensure East Baton Rouge Parish remains safe, accessible, and prepared for future growth.

Completion of MoveBR Projects
Building on the nearly 30 completed projects, Mayor-President Broome’s administration will see MoveBR through to full completion. Key projects such as the Plank Road overhaul will transform East Baton Rouge Parish, making it more navigable and attractive for businesses and residents alike.

Drainage and Flood Mitigation
We’ll commit further resources to drainage improvements to safeguard communities. Continued investment in flood management infrastructure will help protect residents, properties, and the economy from potential flood damage.

Mayor Broome’s Vision for East Baton Rouge Parish: Restoring Pride Through Blight Reduction and Community Revitalization

Blight reduction and neighborhood revitalization are essential to restoring pride in East Baton Rouge Parish communities, encouraging property investment, and promoting public safety.

Comprehensive Blight Reduction Strategy
Implement an integrated blight reduction program that accelerates demolitions, promotes redevelopment, and transforms vacant lots into community assets like parks, gardens, and affordable housing.

Neighborhood Revitalization Initiatives
Focus on revitalizing neighborhoods by encouraging investments in housing, improving local amenities, and building vibrant, walkable communities. This will enhance quality of life, attract new residents, and foster community pride and safety.
